JIMENEZ FAMILY

A commitment to excellence and tradition.

Dos Armadillos Tequila was first introduced as a gift from the Jimenez Family. Señor Jimenez, who has always lived by the importance of family, Hispanic culture, and the traditions of Mexico. He sought to create Dos Armadillos Tequila to share with the world a glimpse into Mexico’s heritage. Together with the help from his family, they confidently brought to life the refined and distinct flavor that is Dos Armadillos Tequila.

As a family they worked together for years to craft and design a bottle that would visually tell the world of a beautiful story. This story describes Hispanic culture, demonstrates the importance of tradition and heritage, while containing the most exquisite drink of the beautiful country that is Mexico.

Artistry

Señor Jimenez and his family set out to create job opportunities within the artisanal communities, which have deep roots throughout Mexico’s history. Every bottle of Dos Armadillos Tequila is different and unique, holding a handmade medallion that sits in the heart of each and every bottle. A Tequila fiber ‘henequen’ rope, once referred to as ‘green gold’, adorns the neck of each bottle, as a symbol of where we’ve been and where we are going.

An Armadillo?

The Armadillo has always been used as a symbol of protection of both history and heritage of the Mexican culture and tradition. Legend speaks that the Armadillo brought a handful of clay on its back to the supreme God Teotl, who used the clay to create and give life to mankind. It is from this folk tale that homage is given to the Armadillo who represents the importance of life to mankind and the balance humans have with the gods: between war and peace, right and wrong, from spiritual to the tangible.

Father, Son, Grandfather

Señor Jimenez grew up from humble beginnings and began working at a very young age. As he grew older he was told by his father to find balance in his life, to work hard, but to set work aside when the day was finished. He was told to provide for himself and his family, but to cherish and be present in the moments he had with them. Today, his son, Gustavo Ivan Jimenez, follows in the footsteps of his father, grandfather and great grandfather – learning the passions and rewards of a hard day’s work, and the enjoyment of drinking a glass of tequila upon returning home.
